Pedro Caixinha’s reign in charge at Ibrox is well underway and the Portuguese manager would have been disappointed to have seen his side draw 1-1 with Motherwell this weekend.
It’s a game Gers fans here in the Tavern thought they really should have been winning but with Celtic now title winners, what the result does do is give Caixinha even more of an idea what he needs to do when the summer rolls around.
There are some good players in this squad without a shadow of a doubt but if Gers are to start competing in Europe again, they’re going to seriously need to strengthen over the summer months.
Even the landlord in the pub thinks Gers need some reinforcements and he’s been impressed by what he’s seen at times from his team this campaign, despite their inability to catch Celtic at the top of the table.
So with that in mind, here’s 3 signings Rangers should seal to seriously enhance their squad…
Jason Cummings
There’s a real misconception when it comes to Rangers that like Celtic, they’ve got bags of money to spend on players in the summer transfer window.
In reality, they’re as cash-strapped as most of the other teams in the division but one man their fans here in the Tavern have been seriously impressed by this campaign is Hibs striker Jason Cummings.
He’s already scored 20 goals this campaign and at 21-years-old, there’s real potential in him going forward too.
Marcus Edwards
Spurs youngster Marcus Edwards is one of the players coming through their academy who has been tipped for an extremely bright future indeed.
The 18-year-old can play on the wing or in midfield and there’s plenty of Spurs fans tipping him for a place in the first-team in years to come.
But spending time on-loan with a team like Rangers would be fantastic for both his physical and emotional development and we’ve seen some cracking young stars do really well at Ibrox over the past couple of years.
Josef Martinez
He’s the man who has been writing Atlanta United into history in their maiden season in the MLS and there’s little doubting former Torino man Josef Martinez has an extremely bright future ahead of him.
He made the slightly eyebrow-raising move to the United States this summer and has scored five goals in his opening three games for his side, cracking figures that have really put Atlanta on the map.
And there’s many MLS supporters that are now worrying Martinez could be snapped up by a team in Europe again and could we be seeing a team like Rangers make a move for a player who has looked absolutely superb in just a handful of games already this campaign?
