Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling slightly more upbeat about their fortunes this week after the weekend’s result against Liverpool.

Certainly, after getting battered 5-1 by Arsenal the weekend before many felt a similar score-line would be on its way against a Reds side at Anfield that were looking to continue their title challenge.

What transpired, though, was actually a fine display from the visitors who took a 2-2 draw away from Merseyside and were good value for it, too.

It’s a sign, then, that the Hammers do have the quality to make a fight of their relegation battle this season and our landlord thinks they can do that, too, if they sign some players in January.

He’s been racking his brain over who he thinks could help out and reckons these three La Liga players could be more than suitable and so Slaven Bilic should do all he can to sign them…

Ignacio Camacho

The midfielder is a proper box-to-box player and would be more than capable of helping out the Hammers in their fight.

He can run up and down for the full game whilst he’s got good passing ability and a real skill of timing challenges. West Ham need players that are going to roll their sleeves up right now and give everyone they face a game and so signing Camacho would certainly help do just that.

 Inaki Williams

The winger is a very exciting prospect over in La Liga and could be set for big things.

That means, then, if West Ham want him they may have to act soon before the competition for his signature gets fierce. Williams is an explosive force out on the flanks and likes to cut inside and get shots away. The Hammers need more potency going forwards at the moment and the youngster would certainly give them that.

 Alessio Cerci

Whilst it’s good to target future prospects, the Hammers shouldn’t rule out signing players with a bit more experience.

At 29, Alessio Cerci has plenty of that from his Serie A and, indeed, La Liga playing days but those seem to be numbered now with Atletico Madrid. He is not getting into Diego Simeone’s team anywhere near as much as he would like and so our landlord thinks West Ham should have a look. He may be fairly easy to bring away from the Spanish capital.
