January raid could stop Man City making history under Pep Guardiola – Agreed?

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely enthralled by their sides opening to the new season.

Pep Guardiola looks to have firmly ingrained his ethos into the football club this season and side are reaping the rewards on the football pitch. It has been a record-breaking beginning to the season which has put The Citizens faithful lining up the bar in an optimistic mood. Although talk of an invincible season is being swiftly dismissed as nonsense with only 13 games of the campaign completed, there is a genuine feeling that City could be lifting the Champions League trophy next May.

City have already secured their place in the knockout stages of the competition after qualifying from Group F as winners with a match to spare.

However, the January transfer window could prove to be City’s nemesis for a change, as reports in Don Balon claim Real Madrid are ready to swoop for Sergio Aguero.

If Aguero swaps Manchester for Madrid in the mid-season window, then City can wave goodbye to their Champions League aspirations.

The Argentine is a big-game player who has provided City with vital goals on countless occasions throughout his six-year spell with the club.

Aguero is the type of player who steps up and delivers in the big moments against the highest calibre of opposition.

His club record-breaking goal away at Napoli at the start of the month that restored City’s lead in Naples and ensured of the three points is the most noteworthy recent example of this.

City have plenty of match-winners in their squad, but without Aguero in their attacking line-up, City’s dreams of lifting the Champions League trophy will be in tatters.
