Celtic manager Neil Lennon admitted that he believes Jeremie Frimpong could be out for a significant amount of time.
Frimpong fears
The 19-year-old was on the receiving end of a heavy tackle from Motherwell striker Devante Cole during Celtic’s 4-1 victory at Fir Park, with boss Stephen Robinson insisting there was “no malice” in the challenge (cited by the Daily Record).
A hat-trick from Southampton loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi helped the Hoops get over the line after he was heavily criticised for being caught on his phone during his side’s 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague last week (via Football Insider).

Cited by The Herald, Lennon believes that Frimpong may have picked up ligament damage from the incident.
“I didn’t get a good view of it because Jerry’s back was to me but I saw the replay and he’s high and late,” he said. “He’s in a lot of discomfort at the minute.
“It could be ligament damage, we don’t know yet. We will have to assess him over the next couple of days.”

It is a worrying scenario that could hamper Celtic’s attacking prowess with crucial games on the horizon.
Labeled as a “dangerous weapon” by Riga assistant manager Mihails Konevs (cited by the Daily Record), Frimpong will be sorely missed by Lennon.
On the other hand, Elyounoussi’s trio of goals will reassure the Irish tactician that he can still get goals without the young Dutchman.
