Jose Mourinho simply has to get rid of these 3 Man Utd players in January

Manchester United were pummelled by Chelsea this weekend, and the resident Red Devils here in the Transfer Tavern are still in a sombre mood….

The Blues tore straight through United and were absolutely ruthless against their powerless rivals.

The 4-0 defeat leaves United 6 points behind the joint leaders City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Worryingly though, the Red Devils are also 5 points behind 4th and 5th as Spurs and Chelsea are locked on 19 points apiece.

Mourinho has some serious issues to sort out.

He still doesn’t seem to know his perfect XI and some players are not performing to their capability.

There is a distinct lack of pace up front and the defence looks shaky at the best of times.

If they want to be challenging at the top end of the table come the end of the season they are going to need a miraculous change in fortune.

They are winless in three Premier League games but they face a Burnley side who seem very shy when they’re on the road.

United need to start picking up points soon and you’d imagine they will have ear marked this upcoming game as a good chance to get back to winning ways.

Win or lose, Mourinho still has a lot to do and the punters here at the Tavern think he should dispose of these THREE United players in January….

Matteo Darmian

The Italian right-back has not featured very often for United this season, but when he has he has been thoroughly underwhelming.

The first half of Darmian’s time as a United player started encouragingly, as he seemed competent at the back as well as being a threat going forward.

However, after an injury in winter, he was unable to recapture his early season form and has still never returned to that level.

United’s defence is already shaky but the presence of Darmian does not do anything to improve the backline, and the punters here in the Tavern think United could cash in and still make a decent amount on the full back.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bastian Schweinsteiger hasn’t had the best of times at Manchester United, and his troubles at United have been well publicised.

Ostracised from the Red Devils squad as soon as Mourinho’s reign began, the German has been unable to fight his way back into the Portuguese’s plans.

The 32-year-old was disappointing in his first season at Old Trafford but no one was expecting him to be completely cut out of the club.

According to official Manchester United documents, he was not even declared as an asset to the club.

His departure is very likely.

Marcos Rojo

The Argentinian is not a regular in the United first XI and no wonder why, given his shoddy cameo appearance against Chelsea.

Whilst he was not the worst of the bunch, he didn’t do his chances any favours with his brief stint on the pitch.

He is often seen as a liability by the United fans and his tackles are often risky and mistimed.

The 26-year-old does seem to have a mean shot but that’s about all the positivity we can squeeze out of the centre back.

In order for Mourinho to regroup and sign some quality defenders, the punters think he should clear some of the dead wood at Old Trafford, and Rojo certainly comes under that description.
