Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side have been an attacking juggernaut so far this season, with their scoring talent firing them to the top of the league.

The Reds have averaged just under three goals a game and have failed to score in just two games, with a heroic Tom Heaton performance and Jose Mourinho’s defensive tactics leading to blank scorecards against Burnley and Manchester United.

The goals have mainly come from their front trio – Sadio Mane is the top scorer with six goals, while Brazilians Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino have five each.

Should Southampton – the side with the fifth best defensive record in the league – manage to employ similar tactics to Burnley and Manchester United and stifle Liverpool’s attack they may need to try something different.

Luckily for Klopp, the Reds have attacking talent outside of their first eleven.

Here are two impact subs we here in the Transfer Tavern think the German should use if they are in need of a goal….

DANIEL STURRIDGE

While Daniel Sturridge isn’t getting much of a run in the Liverpool side at the moment, he is having a decent time in an England shirt.

Sturridge scored the opening goal against Scotland on Friday with an instinctive header and showed he hasn’t lost his goalscoring touch.

The 27-year-old has found himself out of favour under Jurgen Klopp as he doesn’t press as much as Roberto Firmino, but is a man who knows where the goal is and will find himself called upon should Liverpool need a match-winner.

MARKO GRUJIC

Apart from transforming them into a high-pressure, attacking side like his former club Borussia Dortmund, Klopp was brought in to help develop talent at the club.

Marko Grujic was the first signing under Klopp and the German apparently called him personally to push the move through.

In order to develop however, the 20-year-old needs experience yet has only 28 minutes under his belt.

If the game is still in the balance, the Serb could use his athleticism in the middle to force the issue against the Saints.
