Fulham are looking into the possibility of signing Ivory Coast midfielder Kafoumba Coulibaly from French side Nice when the transfer window opens up next month. Coulibaly, who played in Belgium and Thailand prior to his move to France, has been linked with Wigan but Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is now said to be the most interested in snapping up the defensive anchorman who looks like a similar player to fellow Ivorian Didier Zokora.
The 24 year old joined Nice in 2008 but struggled to get into the squad’s first team during his first season at the club after signing from Bastia. He’s having a better second season though and has been a fixture in the Nice team recently, even scoring his first goal for the club last weekend.
The once capped midfielder, who’s expected to make Ivory Coast’s African Cup of Nations squad, has admitted that he would be very interested in a move to the Premiership. He told Skysports.com
“My dream is to be included in the squad for the African nations cup, and for the World Cup, and maybe also to play in the Premier League in the near future. To hear that I am being watched by clubs in England is fantastic.”
Not much of a goalscorer, Coulibaly has been an important defensive player in helping the club steer clear of the relegation zone and they sit in 14th in the Ligue 1 table.
