Though the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t always had the pleasure of supporting a side in the most harmonious of states in recent years, things appeared to have changed this season.
Last year’s disastrous campaign has largely been forgotten as Antonio Conte restored the Blues to the summit of English football, bringing the Premier League title back to Stamford Bridge.
So, all happy families then?
Well, not quite. Recent reports from Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio suggest the west London giants are closing in on a deal to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club this summer.
With Diego Costa strongly touted for a move over to China, the Belgian has been mooted as a potential replacement. Still, despite his prolific form for Premier League rivals Everton since leaving Chelsea doesn’t appear to have wholly convinced fans online.
Indeed, many of them are suggesting it’s technical director Michael Emenalo who will be the one behind this reported move, with disagreements on targets between he and Conte having previously been reported.
