Liverpool have enjoyed a solid start to the season and with Jurgen Klopp at the helm, their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern are generally pleased with how things are going of late.

A slightly disappointing crunch game against United ended in a 0-0 draw but that aside, Liverpool have played some absolutely sumptuous stuff so far this campaign.

Jurgen Klopp has had the chance to really add to his squad this summer and he did just that, splashing the cash to put his personality on a Liverpool squad he widely inherited.

And whilst there have been positives for the Reds, there have also been things that haven’t been great, with the 2-0 defeat to Burnley earlier in the campaign really standing out.

So with that in mind, we want to take a look if there are any Spanish players that might improve the Reds ranks.

Marc Bartra

Despite their obvious improvement under Jurgen Klopp, defensive compactness still remains a thorny issue for the Reds going forward.

Dortmund centre-back Marc Bartra is a player who has plenty of top-flight experience in both Spain and Germany and even the landlord in the pub has been impressed by his start this season.

With questions still being asked about the Liverpool back-line, Bartra is a player who would add definite quality to the Reds’ defensive ranks and at just 25, he’s got years ahead of him.

Jose Callejon

Lots has been made of Liverpool’s threat going forward this season and you can’t help but admire Klopp’s gutsy addition of Sadio Mane this summer.

But you can never have too much quality going forward and if the Reds were to lose the former Saints man to injury say, they would be in a tight situation indeed.

A player like Jose Callejon would definitely add quality on the wing and through the middle, with the Napoli man a real threat going forward.

He’s not an out-and-out goalscorer but when it comes to creating chances and doing the running, there aren’t many better in Europe.

Beñat Etxebarria

Some football fans in La Liga have been extremely surprised Beñat hasn’t been picked up by a bigger club in recent years, especially considering the work he’s done at Bilbao.

He’s a central-midfielder who is known for his passing ability and absolute deadliness from free-kicks.

At just 29-years-old, he’s featured almost 400 times domestically and surely he deserves a high-profile move in the near future.

For a squad player or even a man that could push for a start, there aren’t many Spaniards as good as Beñat.
