Reds fans here in the Tavern are beyond delighted with their sides recent run of form, now finding themselves in the Champions League place they desire. The patch of inspired form has resulted in Jurgen Klopp’s side going on an 8 game unbeaten run in all competitions, as they look to have gathered some European and domestic consistency.

Indeed, many of the Liverpool fan-base here in the Tavern have grown to love the passion and fight that the German manager brings to their football club, as well as providing enjoyment for the young stars of the game with their increased amount of opportunities within the first-team ranks.

Although transfer funds have always been provided for the Merseyside club, Klopp has seen the benefits of youthful inclusion during his time at Anfield with the likes of Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold being the latest prospects to still receive game time, even when transfer window signings are taking effect.

Now with the Champions League knockout stages qualification almost in the bag, the Reds will be at a slight ease with them knowing that avoiding a defeat by a considerable margin at Anfield against their next opponents Spartak Moscow, will put them through to the next round, which could perhaps leave room for a couple of youth players to leave their mark on the European stage.

Ben Woodburn

Already at the young age of 18 -years-old, he’s been following in the footsteps of Welsh legend Gareth Bale.

He operates as a left-winger but has the ability to play on either side, with him offering a very versatile style of play consisting of skills, dribbling, fast feet and a sharp eye for goal.

Having become a regular in their Premier League campaign last year he’s struggled to fit into the latest side, due to the summer signing of Liverpool’s best player this season Mohamed Salah, so has only managed to feature just the once in an EFL Cup game.

But now, with potential rest being granted to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane he could find his way into the starting line-up as a replacement.

Marko Grujic

The Serbian international was one of the stars during Liverpool’s preseason domination down under, on his way to causing quite the fuss among fans here in the Tavern.

Marko works his magic in a centre-midfield role, offering an array of passing ranges, composure, neat touches, a rocket of a shot and a hard tackle, making him a well-rounded player to have run things in the middle of the park.

However, since his shining performances in Australia, he’s struggled to gain any real consistency in the first-team ranks having made 6 appearances with the side so far this season, which is a pretty impressive return considering the pedigree of the packed Reds midfield.

Therefore, with Georgio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can having played a heavy amount of games with the tiring festive period now underway, he might just appear in the red shirt of Liverpool on the world’s biggest stage once again.
