We all know how well Liverpool have hit the ground running this season and over in the Reds corner of the Tavern, it’s absolutely bouncing!

Going into the international break, the Reds sit at the summit of the Premier League and right now, you can’t say they don’t deserve to be there in the slightest.

Their 6-1 demolition of a pretty decent Watford side this weekend more than earmarked their potential as future Premier League champions but it was the way they took to the field which impressed the masses.

But every title-chaser needs a squad full of strength and depth and you do wonder, at times, whether Liverpool have that in an abundance right now.

And with the African Cup of nations just around the corner, we want to see if any competing players might fit in, and do well in this Liverpool team.

So, armed with a really handy list from our footie-mad landlord in the Tavern, here’s TWO African midfielders Jurgen Klopp must sign this January…

Assane Diousse

This is more of a signing for the future, but one young African that has been tipped for extremely bright things by our landlord, is Assane Diousse, who plays for Serie A outfit Empoli.

The 19-year-old is a holding midfielder who is a real part of the first-team fold, having made nine appearances in Serie A so far this term.

Unlike many young talents, he’s somewhat managed to stay out of the limelight and has been able to get on with his game.

But his pace, power and ability to cut out the ball are special.

He’s a player that could turn into the next Yaya Toure.

Thomas Toure

We’re sticking with young talent for our next choice but going for a more well-known name in the form of Bordeaux forward Thomas Toure.

Despite sharing his name with the famous Toure brothers, he’s not related and is a 22-year-old winger who can also play in behind the striker.

He’s frighteningly quick and is a key player in a Bordeaux team looking to sneak up the table this season.

There has been plenty of talk about him moving to a high-profile club in the past and if he does well in the Cup of Nations, it very well could be Liverpool.
