Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to continue their recent good form with a win over tough opposition in the shape of West Ham United this weekend.

Liverpool have worked their way up to third in the Premier League and, amazingly, are only adrift of bitter rivals Man United by two points in the battle for second spot. Jurgen Klopp has transformed the Reds into a dangerous and fearsome team on their day, capable of putting anybody to the sword. The attacking trio, in particular, Mo Salah have destroyed many defences so far this season.

The Hammers, despite having an inconsistent run of it lately will still give the Reds a tough game. However, Klopp will be hoping to capitalize on a potential loss that happens to second place Man United against Chelsea on Sunday, so needs to ensure a win on Saturday afternoon. With that in mind, many of our punters feel that the team needs a refresh and rotating a little.

Our landlord has been having a look at the team and feels, that these two players should be dropped for the better of the team…

Joel Matip

The Cameroonian defender has been playing second fiddle to Dejan Lovren since the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk. With the tough and old-school approach of West Ham, Klopp may prefer to play the centre-back in form. Furthermore, Lovren has looked a better defender next to Van Dijk so far and that pairing could be the one going forward many of our regulars believe.

Both will have to up their game this season, and at the moment, Lovren is winning the race.

Emre Can

With tough to break down Irons side, Klopp may opt for the creativity and energy of Adam Lallana over Emre Can’s midfield offering.

Having still not fully committed to Liverpool next season, the German may be seeing his role in the team reduced over the next few months as Klopp starts to lose trust in the player. Lallana recently came back from injury and will be eager to impress the boss by showing him what he’s capable of. Playing alongside Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will give the midfield a creative look, one ready to release the frontline.
