Jurgen Klopp has always had the ability to take players games to the next level, after turning Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus, Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels and Shinji Kagawa from unproven quality, to stars of the footballing world.

Now in his current role at Liverpool, he’s tried to incorporate this sort of style into some of their youngsters, having already seen Joe Gomez become the breakthrough act of 2017, with a first England call-up performance against Germany resulting in fans calling for him to be on the plane to Russia.

So, with one of the best managers for opportunity and development, Reds youth-prospects have been desperate for a chance to shine.

Klopp has never been shy about chopping and changing his side with 6 changes having been made for the Merseyside Derby draw at the weekend. So, now with tonight’s opponents being relegation scrappers West Bromwich Albion, this gives the German an extra incentive to give some of the youth-players a shot at some action in the first-team.

Therefore, with the gaffer not afraid to give youth a chance, here’s a look at TWO young stars who may make an appearance tonight.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

After being tipped to become a ‘top player’ by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, you know the future is bright for this young lad.

Klopp has utilized the right-back in an unfamiliar wing-back position, but this hasn’t fazed the youngster as he continues to stamp his authority on the Reds European wing-back position, having made featured in 4 of the 6 group-stage matches.

His mixture of defensive and attacking attributes are what makes the defender such a promising young talent, with bags of pace to burn down the right-flank, combined with a free-kick ability, a stern tackle and defensive solidity that makes him perfect for the wing-back role.

Having impressed already this season, the 19-year-old will be looking to further his claim on a regular place in the side.

Dominic Solanke

After being tipped to be the new Diego Costa by former Reds skipper Jamie Redknapp during his time at Chelsea, its evident that Dominic Solanke has a bright future in the game.

The 20-year-old plays in his favoured striker role, looking to make use of his strength and pace to hold up the ball and get in behind the last defender.

Although he is yet to find the back of the net for the Reds, his performances in the U20 World Cup winning-side highlighted how special the youngster is after securing both the Player of the Tournament, and Golden Boot award in what was a dream summer for the starlet.

After receiving his first call-up as a replacement in the England squad to face Brazil back in November, he managed to get on for his international debut in the last 15 minutes which gave the youngster huge confidence.

Having been under criticism for his recent performance in the Merseyside Derby, it’s important that Klopp keeps his faith in the youngster, having already shown glimpses of class in the 13 appearances made so far this season.
