Simon Mignolet has had a mixed spell at Liverpool. Since arriving he has largely been undisputed as the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper – but that changed over the summer.
Loris Karius was brought to Anfield and now finds himself firmly entrenched ahead of the veteran Belgian in the pecking order.
Having played as first-choice for so long, it will come as no surprise to learn that Mignolet is not happy; but for the first time – Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has openly admitted (in a YouTube video posted by This is Anfield) that the Belgian keeper is frustrated at his role ahead of the Reds EFL Cup clash against Tottenham.
Never one to dance around a topic, Klopp confirmed that Karius was his first choice, before adding: “It’s not that one is bad and one is good. It’s a luxury situation”
He continued: “[Mignolet] is a very serious player, a good professional [but]…he’s still not happy”

Simon Mignolet certainly seems like a great professional, but our landlord doesn’t think that he will hang around long as second-choice.
It is clear to see that the former Sunderland man has a lot of commitment and passion for the game – and he won’t settle for a bit-part role.
Jurgen Klopp will have a huge decision on his hands at the end of the season, should Mignolet decide to call it a day.
