Klopp’s wing answer? Liverpool make award-winning attacker prime summer target

Despite Riyad Mahrez’s hot and cold 2016/17 season, pictures of the Algerian and his Leicester team-mates holding the Premier League trophy aloft are still dotted around the Transfer Tavern, such was the magnitude of the Foxes’ achievement.

The winger was the driving force behind the club’s spectacular rise, with his 17 goals and 11 assists enough to scoop him the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, and despite some speculation last year he stayed at the King Power Stadium for the current campaign.

Alas, it’s hard to see Mahrez remaining a Leicester player past game 38, with the Daily Mail having claimed that replacements are already being lined up.

And now reports from TuttoMercatoWeb have outlined where the 26-year-old may go, with Liverpool having supposedly made him their top target for the coming transfer window.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has talked up the need for wingers in his squad in the past, thus making Mahrez a good potential fit, with the North African star known for his qualities from the right flank, as well as his goal-getting prowess.

Liverpool fans in the Tavern haven’t had much to smile about of late, but some frowns have been turned upside down by the prospect of having Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Mahrez behind Roberto Firmino!
