Metro certainly have Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern looking up in disbelief as they claim that the Blues may be able to land Lionel Messi after all.
The Barcelona player has been linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks after rumours of unrest at the Camp Nou and a fall out with manager Luis Enrique but after claiming the stories were all ‘lies’, we thought it had all been put to bed.
Now however, it seems that there is plenty more mileage in this rumour just yet as Messi spoke ahead of yesterday evening’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Losing out to nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo in the end, the Argentine superstar noted: “I’m not sure where I will be next year. In the football world so many things can change overnight.
“I’ve always said I will end my career at Barcelona, but as Cristiano (Ronaldo) says only God knows the future.”
Our punters reckon think this could be some more stirring of the pot from Messi who certainly seems to have a sense of humour when it comes to making Chelsea fans think they might just pull off the coup of the century and we will be watching his social media account for the next clue!
