Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern knew that with Sam Allardyce at the helm, it was simply only a matter of time before Crystal Palace started to pick up a run of form and momentum and push away from the relegation zone.
The great escape,then, is well and truly on for the Eagles.
Palace have been superb, keeping three clean sheets in their last three games has been vital, though they are still lacking the goals needed to easily see off games which suggests that changes are still needed. Some players just aren’t getting the opportunities they need in the team and perhaps that is what needs to be changed in these vital next few weeks for Palace.
Allardyce needs to ensure that he’s not restricting his chances of keeping his side up by not giving the right players the chances they deserve. Sometimes taking a risk can be the key to success and at this point it could really be worth it for Eagles. Although these players may not have been at their best earlier on in the season, everyone deserves a second chance.
With the season slowly heading towards its ending, it’s now or never for these players to be given one last opportunity to prove their worth and prove that they can make a positive impact at this vital stage!
So… Allardyce must give these two Crystal Palace players another opportunity to shine before its too late for them and Palace…
FRAIZER CAMPBELL
The former United striker could be the answer to Palace’s lack of goals, he has featured very sparsely under Allardyce and even under Pardew before him, but now they need goals and Campbell is capable of scoring at vital times.
With Christian Benteke struggling in front of goal, maybe a partner or more of a push for his place could encourage him to get back to his best and in doing so, get him back in among the goals. This really could benefit the cause at Palace as they look to remain in the Premier League.
ZEKI FRYERS
Before the arrival of Jeffrey Schlupp, Zeki Fryers was playing regularly for Palace and looked superb whilst doing so.
The former Tottenham man, whose minutes on the field were limited at White Hart Lane, now seems to be at a crossroads finding himself in the same situation and he needs to get back on the pitch proving why he is worth being at the club.
Fryers needs to get back to playing week in week out and with his better defensive prowess than Schlupp he could offer something different and help to tighten up their defence even more so than it’s currently been. As, although they’ve not conceded in the last three games, they still have a long way to go and have strong competition along the way.
