Leeds and Cardiff interested in Benalouane

Nottingham Forest fans will agree that their side just haven’t improved under the guidance of Martin O’Neill but they’re still in with a chance of securing a place in the play-offs.

Indeed, life without Aitor Karanka has been rather dull for Forest fans as their side just haven’t been able to ensure consistency in recent times, which has highlighted the need to go big in the summer.

However, to make things worse, it appears as if one of the club’s stars is attracting interest.

What’s the news?

According to the Guardian’s Ed Aarons (via his personal Twitter account), Leeds United and Cardiff City are interested in signing Yohan Benalouane.

Benalouane, who is valued at £900k (by Transfermarkt), has settled down to life perfectly at the heart of the defence at the City Ground having put in a number of impressive performances, so fans will be desperate to see him stay in the summer.

Premier League interest could tempt him into a summer move, with Forest possibly staying in the Championship.

The Verdict:

Nottingham Forest will be relying on Benalouane to play a big part in their promotion push this season as he’s helped solve the majority of their defensive issues. Although, failing to secure promotion could mean that the France-born defender decides to move away from the City Ground in the summer.

Leeds may have the pulling power of Premier League football if they secure promotion this season but Cardiff City currently find themselves in the relegation zone, with a return to the Championship looking likely.

Nottingham Forest fans, do you think Benalouane will leave in the summer?
