A number of Leeds United supporters have called for Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa to hand academy sensation Ryan Edmondson a chance in the first-team, after the York-born prospect was named in Paul Simpson’s England U19s squad.
The Young Lions are set to play two friendlies against Greece and Germany in September as they prepare for their new Euro qualifying campaign in November, and Edmondson has been named as one of Simpson’s attacking options as the replacement for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun who is withdrawn injured.
Edmondson has so far played one fixture for Leeds’ academy this season, in which he scored the winning goal of the game as Carlos Corberan’s U23s edged past Ipswich Town 1-0 (Flash Score).
His strike followed on from a tremendous campaign last season as the Whites’ clinched the Professional Development League North Division title, with Edmondson laying claim to eleven goals in nine games and earned his second senior appearance as a late substitute in Leeds’ 2-1 defeat at home to Birmingham last September.
Bielsa is yet to award the 18-year-old a place on any of his teamsheets this term with Patrick Bamford and Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah ahead in the pecking order, but the exciting youngster already has a range of supporters lauding his potential.
A number of Leeds supporters have even rallied with replies sharing the same message when the Whites announced on their official Twitter feed that Edmondson had been called up to the England U19s squad, with fans keen to see the former York City prospect back in the Whites’ senior fold.
Here’s a selection of the messages shared…

Deserves a chance in the first team squad. We need someone who knows where the goals are

So why isn’t he in the first team when we obviously have trouble scoring?
