Leeds United fans are going crazy over the club’s capture of Red Bull Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin, as the Whites confirmed the loan signing of the 22 year-old on Monday morning.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been absolutely crying out for another striker to provide competition for Patrick Bamford in recent weeks, constantly dominating matches but failing to put teams away with clinical finishing. And after fans were drooling over footage of reported target Augustin this weekend, with some even calling him the ‘new Tony Yeboah’, it’s no surprise to see them going into a full-on meltdown over the latest news.
According to Phil Hay, Augustin had a medical on Monday morning after he and his agent flew to Leeds on Sunday evening, and the club have now confirmed the signing is complete, as he will join on a loan basis with a view to a permanent switch in the summer. He will wear the number 29 shirt.
Augustin had a poor loan stay with Monaco this season, managing just 262 minutes of Ligue 1 playing time and scoring only once in all competitions.
