Loads of Leeds fans are laughing at Manchester United over an update on the Whites’ capture of Jean-Kevin Augustin, as The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports the Red Devils made a late attempt to sign the Frenchman.
Manchester United’s scattergun approach to finding a striker after the injury to Marcus Rashford’s has been baffling, as the last week has brought links to the likes of Islam Slimani and Odion Ighalo. Now, Ornstein reports that the Old Trafford outfit also made a late approach for Augustin.
According to Ornstein’s report, which was confirmed by Phil Hay, Manchester United were joined by the likes of Crystal Palace, Brighton and Newcastle, but Leeds’ offer to Augustin was too advanced and too impressive. He also claims that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta were key to the move and vital in securing the 22 year-old’s signature.
Of course, this has led fans to mock their age-old foes and joke about the differences between the two managers, as many point out that despite the gap between the clubs in the football ladder, it is Leeds who have the more respected gaffer.
