Leeds fans on Twitter couldn’t believe how good Cooper was last night

Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson make a strong partnership at the back at Elland Road. However, last night was the second game running where the Whites’ skipper had to go out on the pitch and play without his Swedish partner, and as he stood alongside makeshift centre-back, Kalvin Phillips against Reading, he was absolutely sublime.

The 27-year-old defender has shown time and time again this season under Bielsa that the fans were wrong to slate him last year, and again he proved his doubters wrong last night. Against Reading, the Scottish defender was in the form of his life and to say he didn’t put a foot wrong would be a massive understatement. Whilst usually it’s Jansson who grabs the headlines for his dominance at the back for Leeds, everyone was raving over Cooper yesterday.

If the Elland Road captain can carry on performing like he did last night on a regular basis then it will be just a matter of time before Leeds United find themselves back in the promised land of the Premier League. The Whites wouldn’t look out of place in England’s top flight at the moment either, with Bielsa getting the absolute best out of his players, and it’s clear as anything to see that his skipper is benefitting from that.
