Leeds United: Fans react to Eddie Nketiah’s goal scoring breakdown

A selection of Leeds United supporters have been reacting on social media to a breakdown of Eddie Nketiah’s goal scoring record since the striker joined on loan from Arsenal.

The Whites completed a deal for Nketiah on Deadline Day, with the Gunners product moving to Elland Road on a one-season deal (BBC) despite manager Unai Emery wanting the youngster to remain at the Emirates Stadium (Daily Mail).

Since his arrival, Nketiah has featured in four Championship fixtures and two Carabao Cup ties, in which he has found the back of the net four times (TransferMarkt), but the England U21 international is yet to earn a starting role in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans as the Argentine continues to favour Patrick Bamford.

His limited action in the senior fold at Elland Road has paid dividends for Under 23s coach Carlos Corberan, who was able to call on the 20-year-old again on Monday as the Whites hosted Watford in a Professional Development League tie.

London-born Nketiah scored two goals in the first half against the Hornets as Leeds went on to record a 6-0 triumph, his second and third under Corberan following a successful effort against Millwall earlier in the campaign.

Including his strike for the Young Lions against Turkey’s U21s, Nketiah is now on a goals-per-minute strike rate of one every 56 minutes across all competitions for club and country (LUFC Data), and is boasting a league goals per 90 ratio of 2.3, which is the highest in the Championship of players to have featured more than twice.

When LUFC Data shared those stats on Twitter, Leeds fans were quick to praise Nketiah’s efforts, while others shared hope that he will see out the campaign in West Yorkshire and not be recalled by parent side Arsenal.
