Yesterday saw former Spanish international goalkeeper Kiko Casilla make his first appearance for Leeds United away at Rotherham yesterday. When telling the Spaniard he was going to New York, he probably didn’t expect to be going to the stadium in South Yorkshire. However, it didn’t faze him as he helped his side to a 2-1 win in a game where he won the fans over.
Yellow card: Casilla for timewasting. 90+3. #lufc

It took Casilla just over 90 minutes to make himself a hero to the Whites. With a string good saves against the Championship strugglers in a scrappy game, the Spaniard picked up a late booking for time-wasting, and the fans lapped it up. The moment the referee brandished the shot-stopper with a yellow card was one that the travelling fans adored, and they’ll be keen to see more of it from him.
It’s not very often that a Championship club is able to prise a player from Real Madrid in a January transfer window, however, that’s Marcelo Bielsa for you. The last piece of the puzzle for Leeds United was an experienced ‘keeper, and Casilla showed his years of experience when he picked up the late yellow as he ran the clock down, something that the Whites will want to see so much more of.

The Whites will be desperate get more of their Spanish ‘keeper after his first game for the club and will hope he can only get better after a steady debut
