Leeds interested in Liam Lindsay

Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping that he can head into the summer transfer window with promotion to the Premier League already under his belt, as it would provide the Yorkshire club with the opportunity to go out and make a number of big-name signings.

Of course, many fans will agree that big-name signings would be great for the club, but it appears as if the Whites have their eyes on a player who’s currently plying his trade in League One.

What’s the news?

Leeds United are keen on signing Yorkshire rivals Barnsley’s Liam Lindsay, according to the Mirror (via Daily Star).

However, they’ll face competition from a number of other sides as the likes of Celtic, Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion are also interested in the central defender.

Lindsay has made a name for himself in League One by constantly ensuring consistency at the heart of the defence and he has a very bright future ahead of him, so it makes sense for Leeds to make a move.

The Verdict:

The Whites aren’t exactly blessed with a large amount of central defensive options as Aapo Halme, Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson are their only out-and-out central defenders. Indeed, the likes of Gaetano Berardi and Kalvin Phillips have filled in at times but it would make much more sense to just bring in a natural centre-back.

Indeed, securing promotion to the Premier League could go one of two ways in terms of potentially luring Lindsay to Elland Road, as he could either see a move to the top-flight as a no-brainer or a route that could halt his progress.

Leeds United fans, surely a central defender is a must in the summer?
