Leeds set to suffer blow despite decent point at Fulham last night

Our Leeds fans here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly content with how their team performed last night as they came so close to beating Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Indeed, the Whites were looking good for another crucial victory in their chase for promotion this season but for Tom Cairney’s late goal to spoil the party somewhat.

Before the game, though, if you’d have offered the Leeds fans a draw they arguably would have taken it and that feeling certainly grew when Kalvin Phillips was shown his second yellow card of the game.

The young midfielder has been playing well of late but could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines, given that this was his second dismissal of the season.

That’s according to the FA via The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay on Twitter, and so Phillips will miss the game against QPR and a massive tie against Brighton:

A blow, then, for Phillips and his club who would normally only miss one game for a double-yellow dismissal.

Garry Monk will be confident he can get a response out of his squad despite this, though, and so it’s unlikely to harm the club’s form dramatically.
