Leeds United: Fans debate Phil Hay piece on club legend David Batty

Following insight from The Athletic journalist Phil Hay surrounding club hero David Batty, many supporters have been in full discussion over their former player – with many fans lauding the retired midfielder as ‘quality‘ and a ‘top pro‘.

Batty, who made 280 league starts for the club over two separate Elland Road spells (SoccerBase), scoring four goals in that time, has since gone on to become the centre of a Phil Hay piece detailing his hilarious post-training ritual. According to Hay, after Leeds training, Batty would climb the fence and walk home in his full footballing strip – without even feeling the need to change or use another more civilised method of exiting the training ground.

In response, plenty of Whites supporters have flocked to discuss Batty’s antics detailed in the Athletic – with the former England international attracting a mix of praise and surprise to his post-training ritual. Find all of the their best comments down below.
