Writing in The Athletic, journalist Phil Hay has heaped praise on Tyler Roberts’ comeback from three operations to become key to Leeds United’s potential promotion this campaign – resulting in these supporters hailing the ‘class act‘.
Roberts, who has three goals in four Championship starts for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this campaign, has had to sit on the sidelines for the majority of Leeds’ chase for Premier League promotion – suffering from a plethora of injury problems which include knee surgery and a leg injury (Football League World). However, with Roberts’ return to form after infection ‘put his career on the line‘, having to undergo three operations, many supporters have been hailing the Welshman for his attitude – with one supporter even claiming he could be ‘Pablo’s replacement‘, referring to winger Hernandez.
According to WhoScored.com, even when Roberts was playing last season, Hernandez still managed a superior rate of shots per game (2.3), key passes (2.3) and completed dribbles (1.1) – potentially highlighting the fact that Roberts could still have some way to go.

Bielsa playing Roberts as a 10 has improved him so much when he returns to the ST role. The build up play & the movement around the box is magnificent. Like others have mentioned if he can just stay fit for more than a couple of months. The progress even further will be rapid.

Great article! Didn’t know a lot of that so thanks for the insight. Thought Tyler was our beat player in the second half of last season and always been a fan. He’s big, fast and strong so a real handful to play against. I’ll bet Bielsa thinks he can get way more out of Tyler….

Amazing read Phil. Got to admire Roberts for getting through all that at such an early point in his career. So easy for him to lose the hunger when you’re constantly in and out of surgery and the physio room. Can see a quality player in him when he can string 3 or 4 game together
