Lots of Leeds United fans have been reacting as more details emerge on their imminent swoop for Manchester City starlet Ian Poveda, as The Athletic’s Phil Hay confirmed his move to Elland Road will be permanent.
Having had Jack Harrison on loan in Yorkshire since the summer of 2018, it would have been no surprise to see the Whites bring another Manchester City player in on a temporary basis, but Hay has revealed that Poveda will be a Leeds player for years to come.

While it may not be the striker signing and proven goalscorer fans have been hoping for this window, the permanent capture of Poveda could prove quite a coup in the future, as the teenager has showed flashes of his potential throughout his time at the Etihad.
Per the Manchester Evening News, the 19 year-old has spent time in Barcelona and Arsenal’s youth systems, and has shown ‘trickery and an eye for goal’ in youth matches. He has scored three times and provided two assists in 11 showings for City’s Under-23 side this campaign, and may well have a very bright future under Marcelo Bielsa.
