Leeds United: Fans react on Twitter to Luke Ayling’s latest injury

Leeds United fans just cannot believe their luck at the moment as Luke Ayling is the latest player to be struck down with an injury ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay revealed on Twitter that the right-back had required surgery on an ankle problem he was dealing with.

Although he stressed that the injury was not thought to be serious enough to keep him on the sidelines for the long-term, he mentioned that there was no exact timescale at the moment.

Ayling’s injury follows the news that Kemar Roofe will be spending four weeks in the treatment room himself after he also has an issue with an ankle problem, disrupting Marcelo Bielsa’s plans for the upcoming Championship campaign even further.

In truth, this is nothing new for Leeds as they had to deal with injuries for much of last season. As the Yorkshire Evening Post noted previously, the Whites had to try and overcome a total of 31 different individual concerns which led to a combined 165 games that were missed.

Ayling had his fair share of spending time on the sidelines last season as well, as the right-back missed two months of action and was unavailable for seven games throughout November and December.

Leeds fans could not believe their luck when Hay provided them with the update regarding the 27-year-old and many of them took to Twitter to share their responses to the news.

Here are just some of their reactions…
