It was a disappointing afternoon for Leeds United away at Millwall on Saturday, with the Whites suffering a 2-1 defeat at the Den.

However, the result was heavily influenced by the early sending off of defender Gaetano Berardi. The Swiss centre-back received his marching orders when he was deemed to have brought down Tom Bradshaw in the box and denied him a goalscoring opportunity.
Jed Wallace took the resulting spot-kick and scored before Bradshaw himself put the Lions 2-0 up just before the break. Ezgjan Alioski pulled one back for Bielsa’s side, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered a third defeat of the campaign.
It would be fair to say that Berardi has a poor disciplinary record, indeed this is the eighth red card of his Elland Road career.
However, it does appear as though this one was a little harsh as replays show that there is minimal contact if any between the two players and even if there is, it doesn’t look a clear goalscoring opportunity.
A post on Leeds United’s official Twitter page on Sunday showed a video of the incident, and also confirmed that they intend to appeal the decision.
Plenty of their supporters responded to the Tweet, with most suggesting that the decision should be overturned but few seemed to believe that it actually would be.
