It was an afternoon to forget for Patrick Bamford on Saturday.
The Leeds United forward had the opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot against Millwall at Elland Road but instead scuffed his lines by firing straight at David Martin. In what could have been a defining miss in terms of the season, Bamford was bailed out by Pablo Hernandez who scored twice to help his side secure a dramatic 3-2 victory and move back into the top-two in the Championship.
With only seven games to play this season, it will be critical for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to be firing on all cylinders in order to finish above promotion challengers Sheffield United. This may mean that Bamford will have to make way for the fit-again Keemar Roofe at Birmingham City.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the former Oxford United forward could make his first start in five weeks at St Andrew’s against the Blues. Leeds’ top-scorer this season with 14 goals, Roofe’s return could provide the club with the fire-power needed to secure a return to the Premier League after 15 years away.
With both Roofe and Bamford expected to challenge for one position at the weekend in Bielsa’s 4-1-4-1 formation, Whites supporters took to Twitter to reveal their opinion on who should be handed a start.
