Some Leeds United fans were furious with one of the remarks Marcelo Bielsa made following their defeat to Queens Park Rangers in Saturday’s early kick-off.
The Whites failed to take advantage of playing ahead of their rivals when Nahki Wells fired home controversially midway through the first half to give the hosts all three points (BBC).
However, it isn’t like Leeds did not have the chance to draw level as they were awarded a penalty in the second half. Unfortunately for the Elland Road outfit, Patrick Bamford stepped up and missed the spot-kick from 12 yards out.
To make matters worse for Bielsa and the club’s faithful, Kalvin Phillips was shown a red card with just minutes on the game left to play.
Although fans may have been infuriated with what they saw on the pitch from their players, many appeared to be fuming after Phil Hay tweeted out a remark from the manager following the defeat.
Bielsa says Leeds are in "our worst moment in the Championship." Said he missed a player like Nketiah on the bench today, to let him make a change up front. No updates from him on transfers. #lufc

Bielsa was said to have stated that he missed a player like Eddie Nketiah on the bench, presumably as an individual that he could turn to in order to change how the game was going.
The Arsenal man was recalled by his parent club earlier at the beginning of the month (Sky Sports) after he was, perhaps, deemed not to have played regular football and fans slammed the South American after hearing the comment.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Bielsa has had more than a year to sort this out…. no excuses. Bielsa was the one selecting Bamford over Nketiah every single game, it was obvious a year ago Bamford should have been sold #lufc

Well it’s Bielsa’s fault Nketiah wasn’t on the bench! If he had given him more game time maybe he would have been there, if not on the pitch playing!

Bielsa treated Nketiah pretty miserably. He’s reaping what he sowed on this one. Lame from Bielsa with this predictable excuse

Missed a player like nketiah on the bench? We missed a player who will be in the starting 11 with bamford on the bench. If leeds bring in a striker and bamford still plays then bielsa is just as bad.

Missed a player like nketiah all season someone who can take their chances. Why didn’t he play him when he was here?

He had ample opportunity to give Eddie more game time and refused to do so. Ridiculous excuse. His stubbornness is gonna cost us again

Nketiah isnt the type of striker we needed in the first place! Starting to doubt MB and his wierd decisions and thinking.

Well he had his chance with him (Nketiah) and blew it so no sympathy there. He loves I can’t score from 12 yds Bamford so happy days for him.
