Leeds United are 'ready' to complete the signing of Club Brugge attacker Charles De Ketelaere this summer, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: De Ketelaere constantly linked with move

The 21-year-old has been continually linked with a summer move to Elland Road in recent weeks, as Jesse Marsch looks to continue rebuilding his squad following the losses of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

De Ketelaere scored a highly impressive 14 goals and registered nine assists in the Belgian Jupiler League last season, outlining his productivity in the final third, and Phil Hay reported last month that Victor Orta and co were 'increasingly serious' about signing the exciting young talent.

AC Milan have also been strongly credited with interest in the youngster, however, as Leeds have even been forced to look at alternatives. The Serie A giants are even sending officials out to discuss the deal, but Jones believes the race isn't run just yet.

The Latest: Expert delivers key update

Speaking to Give Me Sport, the 'transfer insider' claimed that Leeds are still in line to swoop for De Ketelaere if he doesn't end up at Milan, and have even agreed personal terms:

"We still have to assume that Milan get him, they are the firm favourites, but Leeds are ready. If they don’t sign him, then Leeds are ready to get a deal done.

"We’re talking probably in the region of £30 million; Leeds have got that to spend, they know the terms of his contract, they are willing to pay him exactly what he wants. So, this deals ready to be signed off. If the Milan deal collapses, I think Leeds will get him."

Indeed, Marsch himself has confirmed 'we're not finished with him yet' when discussing the player this week, although he admitted it looks unlikely.

The Verdict: Primary summer target

De Ketelaere is a player of huge potential, as well as being a current star, so it is understandable why Leeds see him as one of their primary summer transfer targets. He can make an immediate impact and develop long into the future, dubbed a would-be 'amazing player for Leeds' by American journalist Tyler Johnson.

The Whites reportedly see him as a forward despite his ability to play an attacking midfield role, so perhaps we will see Marsch deploy his famous 4-2-2-2 system this term, whether that is with CDK and Patrick Bamford or a different new signing.

It is encouraging that everything is in place to sign the Belgian, helped by the money received for the sales of Phillips and Raphinha, implying the Whites will spare no expense in sealing a deal if Milan can't.

If Leeds manage to entice De Ketelaere to the club he could be a star at Elland Road, adding goals, assists and general creativity in an area where the Whites struggled last season, particularly with Bamford out injured so often.
