Leeds: Jesse Marsch ‘a big fan’ of Whites target Pedro

Leeds: Jesse Marsch ‘a big fan’ of Whites target Pedro -Leeds United News

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is ‘a big fan’ of Flamengo forward Pedro, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Lowdown: Pedro linked with Leeds

Pedro was first linked with a move to Elland Road on transfer deadline day by Fabrizio Romano, who said that Leeds have been monitoring the payer for a long time.

Speculation has continued heading into 2023, with recent reports suggesting that Leeds, and by extension transfer chief Victor Orta, ‘dream’ of signing the 25-year-old.

The striker is currently with Brazil at the World Cup and has been labelled an “excellent finisher” by BBC commentator Guy Mowbray.

The Latest: Jacobs’ comments

Jacobs was speaking to GiveMeSport to share what he knows about Leeds and a potential move for Pedro.

The reporter said that ‘Marsch is a big fan’ of the Brazil forward and that ‘Leeds have done a fair amount of due diligence and scouting on the player’.

Jacobs outlined: “Jesse Marsch is a big fan and we know that Leeds need a few more goals and assists because of their reliance on Patrick Bamford, so that’s one to watch.

“But, of course, Leeds are in a difficult position because the more he features at the World Cup or the better he does, the more he may potentially put himself in the shop window to other suitors as well.

“But Leeds have done a fair amount of due diligence and scouting on the player, even predating Jesse Marsch, so he’s one to watch as far as Leeds and the World Cup are concerned.”

The Verdict: Time to act?

The Whites may need to look at their centre-forward options, with Patrick Bamford enduring a frustrating 2022 at Elland Road in terms of form and fitness.

By contrast, Pedro has enjoyed an excellent calendar year, netting 29 times in all competitions to earn a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

True or False? Jesse Marsch played for the USA at the World Cup!

He is an out-and-out centre-forward who appears to be at the peak of his powers with a career-high €20m (£17.2m) Transfermarkt valuation, so it could be wise for Leeds officials to prepare an offer in 2023, especially with Marsch clearly an admirer of the 25-year-old.
