Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson has tipped the team to bounce back to reignite their title challenge and boost their promotion bid.
Leeds have been out of form recently with one win in seven league games, though while the gap between Marcelo Bielsa’s side and the play-off places has narrowed considerably, they remain just a point off the Championship summit with leaders West Brom winless in their last six league matches.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson insisted that winning their next two games against Millwall and Wigan Athletic will see the Whites return to form, while new signings are also needed if Leeds are to turn their season around.
He said: “You always have dips in the season, it’s normal. What’s important is how you come back from the dip and Leeds have got the perfect opportunity against Millwall at home next Tuesday.

“They’ve got two home games coming up, then away at Forest and they’re crucial games now. It’s how you bounce back. With two victories on the board against Millwall and Wigan, Leeds could be right back on track for the Premier League. Come February, two wins, plus a couple of signings, it could be a whole different outlook for the rest of the season.”
With Leeds’ recent form being so dire, back-to-back wins would certainly be a welcome sight at Elland Road, particularly ahead of a pair of crunch matches against fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest and Brentford away from home in the week that follows. That may be easier said than done judging by Leeds’ home form alone, with no win at Elland Road since mid-December.
Meanwhile, things remain quiet on the transfer front with little over a week of the January window remaining, though Robinson’s plea is understandable as the Whites have scored eight goals in their last seven matches – with five of those coming in the same game.
Robinson’s theory may therefore appear a little obvious, though given wins, goals and signings have been such a rare sight lately, perhaps issuing a simple rallying cry is all the ex-goalkeeper can do for his former team.
