It may have been 15 years since James Milner lost donned the famous white shirt of Leeds United yet the admiration for the midfielder has grown stronger amongst the club’s supporters in recent years.
The 33-year-old left Elland Road in 2004 amidst severe financial problems for his the Yorkshire-based outfit and has enjoyed an incredibly successful career in the Premier League playing for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and most recently Liverpool.
Since moving to the Reds in 2015, Milner has played an instrumental role in the club’s transformation under Jurgen Klopp and could be on the verge of winning a historic double at the end of the current campaign. However, in recent weeks the midfielder has had to settle for substitute appearances in the Premier League with his German manager preferring the likes of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in his position.
With his current deal at Anfield running out in the summer (via Transfermarkt), the former England international’s future is still unclear. Having been left out of the Liverpool’s kit launch this morning, Milner took to Twitter to react to the news, provoking an overwhelming response from these Leeds fans.

Considering Marcelo Bielsa’s side are on the verge of securing a long-awaited return to the Premier League this season, it wouldn’t be at all surprising (as has previously been reported by the Daily Star via Birmingham Mail) if the club are looking at the possibility of bringing back one of their most successful youth academy graduates.
Now in the twilight of his career, a return to Leeds for Milner would book-end what has been a fantastic career for the midfielder.
