Leicester City fans have given their frank opinions on the departure of Islam Slimani.
The Algerian forward has joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on a season-long loan deal.
This is the third loan deal away from the club since joining the Foxes, having been out on loan at Newcastle and Fenerbahce respectively.
Slimani came to Leicester from Portugal in the summer of 2016, when the club paid a reported £30m (The Guardian) to buy the player from Sporting Lisbon after he bagged 27 goals in 33 league games the season prior.
However, in the three years since joining the club, Slimani hasn’t been able to amass half of the total he scored in the Liga NOS that season. He has played 46 games for Leicester in all competitions and has scored a total of 13 goals, according to the club website.
Slimani told the club website: “I am very happy to be involved with AS Monaco, a big club that aims to fight for the first places in the championship and to qualify for European competitions.
“I will give everything to help the club achieve its goals.”
There has been a pretty mixed response from Leicester fans, with many being happily surprised that Monaco have taken the player; whereas others think they could regret letting him go, saying they are light on options up top.

Might as well have just sold him

All the best, Slim. Still think he had a use at Leicester.

So comforting to know that this leaves us with Kelechi as our back-up and Plan B option. Don't get injured Vards….PLEASE.
