This has interrupted the celebrations of the Leicester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Leicester City might be struggling in the league – but the Champions League is a whole different story.
The Foxes are impressing in Europe – and look good value for progression into the knockout stages of Europe’s elite competition.
However, a 0-0 draw with Copenhagen has come at a cost – and that cost is star goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
According to the Sun, Schmeichel suffered an injury in the game – and he could miss as much as 6 weeks worth of action.
This is a huge blow for the Foxes in the Tavern, given that Schmeichel is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. Leicester have struggled defensively this season – and his fine goalkeeping has saved Ranieri’s side on a number of occasions.
Our landlord thinks that this could prove vital in Leicester’s season. The next 6 weeks are set to play a fairly big role in where teams finish this year; and Leicester need to ensure that they are battling in the top half.
Schmeichel has started in 8 games in the Premier League so far this season, and has been one of Leicester’s best performers.
