Let down: These 2 Rangers players have been awful this season

Rangers fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side can finish the season strongly as they’ve dropped off the pace in recent times.

The Bluenoses will be looking to improve on their current squad in the summer transfer window, after failing to challenge bitter rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title in what has been a rather disappointing campaign. Although, there’s still plenty of time to improve before the start of next season, with many of our local residents wanting to see success and silverware.

Indeed, a couple of the club’s first-team members haven’t lived up to expectations in the current campaign, as a summer transfer window exit could be in the offing. So, with the season now coming towards a close, Graeme Murty will be hoping that a couple of his players step up from here on in.

Nevertheless, here’s a look at TWO Rangers players that have been awful this season…

Russell Martin

Sadly, Russell Martin hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons in the Scottish Premiership, as he continues to make silly mistakes that have ended up costing the side in recent times.

Indeed, the defender hasn’t been able to ensure consistency during his time at Ibrox, as a promising performance is often followed up with a poor one in what has been a season to forget.

Therefore, it’s unlikely that Rangers will want to bring him to Glasgow on a permanent deal at the end of the season, as he’s still yet to prove his worth and doesn’t appear to be getting any better with age.

Bruno Alves

The Portuguese veteran has been very poor in the current campaign as he often finds himself giving the ball away, with old age seemingly taking its toll on Bruno Alves’ career.

Sadly, the 36-year-old may even decide to retire at the end of the season after a rather disastrous campaign, as he seems to have lost his composure and constantly looks sluggish in possession.

Alves has undoubtedly been one of the worst players in the first-team squad so far this season, so Rangers may look to cut ties with the defender as they go on in search of a suitable replacement.
