The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to an Instagram post put out by their club’s German midfielder, Emre Can. The midfielder has just returned to Anfield from working with the international team and is now focused on returning from injury. Although out local Kopites can’t help but read into the German’s post, given his current contract situation on Merseyside.

Emre Can is no doubt a brilliant player and he’s attracted a number of suitors over his last few years at Liverpool. The dynamic German midfielder has become one of Liverpool’s best in the centre of midfield and with his contract expiring in the summer, losing him on a free will be a big loss for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Manchester City and Juventus have been two of the named clubs that are sniffing for Can’s signature after he reportedly demanded that to sign a new Liverpool contract he needs to be offered £200,000 per week by The Reds.
The recent wage demand infuriated a number of Liverpool fans as they didn’t believe the German warranted such a large pay cheque at the club. However, with his recent post, doubt has been cast over whether the24-year-old has been making such demands. In the summer, Liverpool will be joined by RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, meaning that if Can does leave, as he is expected to, the void left by the German will instantly be filled by arguably the best young talent in world football at the moment.

This could have been made so much easier for everyone, the club knows if he’s leaving or no so announce it…. Emre clearly is giving 110% every game so it wouldn’t affect performance he’s a great pro! Making Bad air that isn’t needed! #EC23 #LFC
