Metro have Manchester United fans looking up from their pints here in the Football Transfer Tavern, and now it seems that our landlord has joined the conversation as well.

The reason for all the interest comes as the publication claim that Edinson Cavani has dealt the club a rather large blow in terms of their transfer plans ahead of the summer.

The Paris Saint-Germain player has noted that a move to Manchester United is not in his thoughts, and that is not something that has gone down well with the Old Trafford faithful.

The Uruguayan forward noted: “I don’t know why people are saying I’m not happy at PSG – it’s not true.

“What we talk about in the dressing room should stay there and the private life of a football player has to remain private.

“I am feeling well in Paris and at PSG.”

As one of our regulars claims over a pint, this means that United will have to look elsewhere, and it is not great news for Chelsea or Jose Mourinho either with the Blues also keen on Cavani.

However, our landlord claims the fact that Cavani has alluded to leaks from the dressing room may yet provide a light at the end of the tunnel for the English sides.
