As you’re probably all aware, the transfer window closes in just seven days time and for a lot of Premier League clubs, there is still plenty of business to be completed. None more so than Tottenham Hotspur, who are yet to sign a single player. However, according to the Watford Observer, Tottenham could be set to make a move for Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Last season, Watford’s French midfielder was making headlines with his dominant midfield displays, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in his 37 Premier League appearances. It was a mightly impressive full debut campaign from the Frenchman who signed for the club back in the January window in 2016 and now it looks like the club could be set to mae a profit on the fee of around £10 million that the Hornets paid for him 18 months ago.
If Tottenham were to sign Doucoure, they’d be getting a talented workhorse. A man who contributes at both ends of the pitch and puts the team above himself. Last season, Watford finished 14th and broke the 40-point mark by just one point, with new manager Javi Gracia coming in and doing enough to keep them up. However, it could be catastrophic for the Vicarage Road faithful to lose one of their stars so close to deadline day as they’d have little chance of finding a replacement.

The fans seem keen and the player would be a good fit, the only stumbling block here is the £45 million asking price.
