Liverpool: Arsenal open door for Reds to sign Ozan Kabak

Liverpool have been helped out by Premier League rivals Arsenal in their pursuit for the highly-rated defender Ozan Kabak.

Arsenal help Liverpool out

According to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Gunners centre-back Shkodran Mustafi is moving closer to a move to Schalke for a fee between €1.5m-€2m (£1.3m-£1.7m) and will replace the 20-year-old who has been linked with a move to Anfield.

Kabak is a highly-rated centre-back who has been heavily scouted by elite clubs across Europe, but his team have been struggling in the Bundesliga this season with a poor defensive record.

This comes after the Turkey international was spotted by Sky Sports heading into Schalke’s medical centre as the clock ticks closer towards Monday’s 11 pm deadline.

Kabak would be coming to Merseyside to provide defensive reinforcements on the back of their horrendous injury crisis, with all four options ruled out due to injury.

Transfer Tavern Verdict

Mikel Arteta may have done Liverpool a huge favour here by offloading Mustafi to Germany, as it helps them bring the player in that they wanted.

Of course, there are no guarantees that Kabak will hit the ground running if he does sign, but with so many players out injured, he will get the opportunity to jump straight into the team.

Despite Schalke’s poor record this season, Liverpool and Klopp performed miracles with Andy Robertson who was relegated at Hull. Time will tell whether Kabak’s destiny will turn out the same.

In other news, Jurgen Klopp happy to let 6 ft 2 defender leave despite centre-back crisis.
