Liverpool fans are looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro note that Raheem Sterling’s uncertain future is not concerning Brendan Rodgers.

The Liverpool boss has been speaking about Sterling and his constant links to the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and does not seem to think that a move is in the pipeline – for now at least.

Rodgers spoke about Liverpool’s long-term goal and noted: “We are a club trying to build something. We were on a path for a couple of years and, of course, we’ve had to come off that path since the summer, to regroup again, really,

“I’m quite relaxed about it. I’m sure we can get a deal done. He’s the type of boy, he leaves his representatives to work with the club in order to hopefully organise the deal. He has no real influence in that.”

Now as our landlord notes over by the pool table, the fact of the matter is Sterling will want to be playing Champions League football year in, year out and Liverpool may well struggle to provide that for him.
