Liverpool boss convinced Reds ace will pen fresh Anfield terms

AFC Bournemouth v Liverpool - Capital One Cup Quarter FinalLiverpool fans are pleased with the Daily Mail here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they report that Raheem Sterling could well be signing a new contract with the Merseyside giants imminently.

The Reds are currently desperate to keep hold of the young forward who has shone this season and was a key part in rescuing a draw against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

After his mid-season break to Jamaica, Sterling is back and looking better than ever.

Sterling has previously attracted interest from Real Madrid and as one of our punters notes over a pint, has been sensational at times and you couldn’t really deny he boasts the quality to join a side such as Los Blancos.

However, it seems that any hold up in his new deal with Liverpool is not down to any reluctance on his part.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers spoke about a potential delay in contract talks with Sterling and noted: “The player is very happy. It (the delay) is nothing to do with Raheem, he wants to be here so hopefully we get the solution on that very soon.”

The consensus in the tavern is that Sterling will be staying at Anfield for the foreseeable future but it would certainly put our Reds regulars mind’s at rest if he signed that new contract sooner rather than later.

Liverpool fans. Is Rodgers right? Will Sterling decide to stay at the club for the next few seasons? Is it unfair that Sterling has had to carry the side at times this term? Let us know your thoughts below.
