Liverpool fans cannot wait to hear what Metro have to say here in the Football Transfer Tavern and after hearing the latest gossip from their manager, we cannot blame them.
Brendan Rodgers had been speaking about one of his most vital players, young winger Raheem Sterling, who has been carrying the team in recent games – yet has been suffering from fatigue – and given he is now a star for both club and country, this is not exactly shocking news.
The under pressure Liverpool boss spoke about Sterling’s need for a rest and claimed: ‘Raheem will have a rest,
‘There will be a period that is already mapped out for him of when he will come out and have that breather and that recovery after Christmas.
‘There is a set period we will look at, it doesn’t have to wait until Daniel Sturridge comes back from injury.’
As our regulars note, Liverpool and Rodgers seem to be placing a huge amount of stock on Sturridge coming back from injury and we are not fully sure that will change their season too much given their defence and indeed midfield leaves a fair bit to be desired.
