Liverpool confident star man will NOT follow skipper out the door

Sterling rejects a new deal It has been a hard week for Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern but the Sunday Telegraph are about to make things a little bit better for them.

The publication seems to think that that club are confident that Raheem Sterling will not be following captain Steven Gerrard out of the door – and a new deal is edging closer and closer.

The winger will reportedly be tied to Liverpool until 2020, with the new deal increasing his wages significantly and in the best news of all, the deal is set to be signed by the end of the month.

As one of our punters cautions, Luis Saurez penned a new deal before leaving the Reds, however we think that Sterling will be staying on Merseyside for at least the next few seasons as his career develops and the support of the club, fans and Brendan Rodgers will be invaluable to him as he tries to become one of the best players in world football.

Liverpool fans. Can you keep Sterling with an improved deal? Is he the key to a bright future? Let us know your thoughts below.
