Liverpool join race for “incredible” World Cup star

Barnaby Lane 7 July 2026, 17:43 2 minutes read

Liverpool are preparing for a major summer rebuild after a disappointing second season under Arne Slot.

The Dutchman was dismissed after the Reds finished fifth in the Premier League, with Andoni Iraola now tasked with leading a new era at Anfield.

Liverpool have also lost key figures including Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah, while expensive summer additions such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have yet to fully adapt.

With attacking reinforcements a priority, the club appears to have entered the race for one of the standout performers at the 2026 World Cup.

Liverpool Join Race for Summerville

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have joined the growing list of clubs interested in West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

The Netherlands international has boosted his reputation on the biggest stage, scoring two goals and providing two assists at the 2026 World Cup, while his performances for the Hammers have earned praise from former West Ham star Kevin Nolan, who described him as “incredible”.

Summerville is now attracting serious attention, with West Ham reportedly placing a valuation of around £50 million on the winger.

However, their relegation could potentially weaken their negotiating position, with some reports suggesting a deal closer to £30m-£40m may be possible.

Liverpool are understood to have made an approach for the 24-year-old, who fits the profile Iraola is looking for: a direct, pacey attacker capable of creating problems in one-on-one situations.

The Reds are not alone in their interest, but with Manchester United focusing on midfield targets and several other Premier League clubs only monitoring the situation, Liverpool could look to move quickly before competition increases.
