As per The Independent, Liverpool could be set to be missing Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho from their squad for the game against Southampton this weekend with him spotted in a hospital on Thursday.
The news has come as a big blow to our resident Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern who have seen the playmaker come on leaps and bounds under Jurgen Klopp to arguably be their best player.
Naturally, then, the Anfield club will hope he recovers in time or as soon as possible if he is to miss the trip to St. Mary’s.
The midfielder reportedly missed training on Thursday thanks to the fitness issue and so now Jurgen Klopp and his men will be sweating on the results from his time in hospital.
The Reds can remain top of the league if they win on the south coast over the weekend as the race for the title begins to really step up a gear.
Coutinho has been crucial to their table-topping form, emerging as the star man amid a wonderfully fluid frontline.
The Anfield outfit are currently top by just a point from Chelsea with Arsenal and Manchester City both within a win of the summit so the Reds know only three points will do.
